As all of the watches we sell are serviced by our trained watchmakers, customers have asked if we can provide watch repair services for watches they own whether purchased from Yorktime or not. As a result, we started offering repair services in 2010.
Servicing a watch requires a detailed estimate and as such we require that you contact us in order to arrange for the watch to be sent in for proper analysis.
We offer a complete slate of services including cleaning and lubricating movements, repairing and replacing damaged or worn parts, as well as full restoration of damaged dials or cases that may need polishing or re-plating.
A basic manual wind time only watch is obviously less expensive than a proper repair or servicing of an automatic or complication such as a chronograph or triple date moon-phase watch.
We do have access to a vast supply of vintage parts for repairs that are not available from most watchmaking supply houses.
The most basic cleaning of the watch requires complete dis-assembly, cleaning in an ultrasonic tank and reassembly using the highest quality lubricants and additives. Watches are then timed out over 5 days to check for correct time keeping. Older watches cannot be expected to maintain the same standards as new watches. Its is primarily for that reason that companies such as Rolex do not entertain servicing vintage models.
